The 2008 Pinot Noir is bright ruby garnet in colour with a fresh lifted red fruited nose. Red cherry and raspberry abound with some oriental spice and earthy7 notes adding complexity and savouriness.
On the palate the wine is firm and fine, with more red fruits and spice, intense yet silky tannins and crisp, bright acidity. Lovely length and elegance on the finish. A delightfully poised wine, that is drinking well now, but will gain further depth, richness and velvety texture with age.

What the critics think
|
|
2008 – “Clear, strong colour; a fragrant bouquet with blood plum and cherry aromas, the palate with life and drive to its red fruits and silk, lingering tannins. Delicious now, but has years in front of it.” Rating: 95 points
James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion – 2011

Richard McIntyre is really into his yeasts. He believes wild (natural or indigenous) yeasts give a lot more personality and character to his wines, with the extra palate texture an added bonus. His reserve pinot, The Moorooduc, is a dazzling wine with a funky bouquet of warm North African spices, truffles and dense cherry compote. The palate is equally luxurious, its rich sweet red berry fruit restrained and contained by an ultra fine veneer of silky tannins. With duck please.
