Seresin Vineyards embrace the principals of Bio-dynamics and traditional winemaking; hand-tending the organic vineyards and crafting wines in harmony with seasonal and celestial rhythms. 2008 was a season of huge promise. A good flowering period produced a large number of bunches, thinned to achieve optimum yields. Fine warm weather over summer allowed even ripening and sped up grape development bringing the vintage forward. The fruit comes from the ‘Home vineyard’ which surrounds the winery. It is made up of a variety of Waimakiriri type soils of alluvial origin, and the clay rich hillside ‘Raupo Creek vineyard. Pale straw in colour. The nose exhibits aromas of stone-fruit, ripe pear and citrus with hints of smoke and an underlying minerality. The weighty palate is richly textured, with background creaminess from lees contact, balanced by a fresh acidity providing a lingering finish. Drinking well now and will further improve over the next 5 years. Such diversity means this wine is more than the sum of its parts; complex, structured and textural!

2008 – “The most obvious distinguishing feature of this wine is the presence of oak in the mix. It’s very much a feature of both the nose and palate. Savoury, cedary grilled nuts and spice sit across ripe stone fruit aromas – the palate has a pleasing savoury grip and plenty of spicy, nutty oak-derived complexity adding character to the pear and peach fruit.
