Made from fruit from the renowned ‘Old Block’ Shiraz at the Mount Langi Ghiran property which was planted in 1963, the vines are now over 45 years old. The colour is dark plum red with dense purple rim. A complex nose showing blueberry, blackberry and typical Langi spices. Delicately perfumed, the wine is lifted and elegant. Dense and tight, with structured tannins building on the palate. Showing great potential at bottling, the wine is brooding and restrained with years to go before it peaks. The wine continues on the palate with ripe blueberry and blackberry fruits, hints of pepper and tight acidity adding length and definition.

2006 – “Shiraz from Mount Langi Ghiran’s Langi vineyard is a modern Australian classic, and this ’06 ranks as one of the best examples yet. Glass-staining ruby colour introduces it, and suggestions of black cherry jam, blueberries, soft spices, game and subtle dusty oak are woven into a delectable complex nose. It builds character and proportion in the glass with a velvety mouth-feel, medium body, fine tannins and delicious lingering aftertaste. It drinks beautifully now, but should also develop very well.
