Deep crimson red colour with some purple hues. The nose is very complex, with sweet cassis fruit mingled with a touch of earth, blackcurrant and fine integrated vanillin oak.
The palate is rich and generous, displaying notes of chocolate, red berries and a touch of white pepper. This wine is elegantly structured and balanced with firm tannins and a lengthy finish.

What the critics think

2005 – ‘This shows the ripeness of the 05 Coonawarra vintage and some attractive swanky oak. Mixed berries and a little sweet-spice lift, smells creamy and soft. The palate is built around ripe tannins, aniseed and some chocolate, just the faintest hint of herbs, smoothly textured and ripe with elegance”. Rating; 93 points
Nick Stock – The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide -2009

2005 –“Rich and generous, full of expressive cassis and blackcurrant fruit; silky tannins and quality oak; very long finish. Rating; 95 points
James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion - 2009

2004-“Aromas of red and black fruits, capsicum, leaf litter and spicy cedar oak. There is a touch of chocolate and licorice too given a little time in the glass. A very correct classic Coonawarra. On the palate medium bodied with crushed red and black berries, capsicum, cigar box and a little dark chocolate. Dry fine grained but firm tannins and crisp acidity. Finishes with fresh red fruit and spice flavours. A graceful cellaring style. Rating 91+ points
Gary Walsh – Winorama.com.au

2004 -“Fractionally hazy colour; a tight, classic cabernet with earth and blackcurrant combining in a slightly savoury mould; restrained tannins and quality French oak to tip the scales in its favour. Rating 94/100
James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion - 2008
