The wine exhibits a lovely garnet colour in the glass. A very lifted bouquet opens with an array of bright raspberry and mulberry aromas, moving onto intense notes of dark plum and exotic spices. The overall impression is of elegance and finesse.
The anticipation built by the bouquet is most ably delivered by the deliciously elegant palate. Poached blood plum, raspberry and blackberry flavours are given length and depth by the subtle vanillan notes of classy French oak. The mouth feel is silky, supple and very long. This is a most elegant Shiraz from a fine vintage in Margaret River, and shows all the hallmarks of being a great wine to match with an array of similarly elegant food.

What the critics think
2008 – “Light, bright crimson; the fragrant bouquet of spicy red fruits is closely tracked on the light – to medium-bodied palate that is all about finesse, line and length, the red cherry fruit with spicy nuances, the oak reserved.’ Rating 94 points
James Halliday – The Australian Wine Companion - 2011

"Boy, these guys are starting to make this variety hum after beginning to refocus on it a few years ago. No question this is the best yet. Savoury and delightfully spicy with a sumptuous soft and supple palate that provides layers of complex flavours. Has the best mouth feel of any Leeuwin shiraz released to date. Score 95/100. Cellar 5 years"
Ray Jordon – WA Wine Guide - 2011

"Scented with spicy aromas of white pepper, cloves and nutmeg, its bouquet of fresh cherries, tomato bush and blueberries reveals nuances of cedar/vanilla oak and a hint of soy. It's supple. fine-grained and elegant, juicy and sweetly fruited with cassis, raspberries, red cherries and redcurrants underpinned by fine, supple tannins and polished cedar/vanilla oak. 91 points."
Jeremy Oliver – The Australian Wine Annual - 2011
