Kilikanoon’s finest Barossa Valley Shiraz cuvee, The Barossa ‘R’ Reserve, was blended in equal parts from both our estate owned, Crowhurst and Greens Vineyards. Tiny yielding parcels of old vine Shiraz were hand picked, traditionally vinified and then matured for 30 months in small 100% new French oak casks creating a wine of great varietal strength, poise and ageing potential.
Deep brick red with crimson tints. Tremendous power and complexity, the nose defines the best of the Shiraz variety, ripe fruit and oak integration. Full flavoured, densely textured and strongly varietal, the ‘R’ Shiraz has a palate that combines rich plum fruit, spicy oak handling and fine tannins to create a wine that is both complex and rewarding with a long persistent finish.

What the critics think
2006 – “Dense and powerful bouquet with a real tour de force of black fruit; essency fruit on the palate, with toasty oak playing a supporting roll; attractive mocha, chocolate finish.” Rating; 95 points
James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion – 2010
2005 -“Opaque purple. Powerfully scented nose offers ripe dark berry liqueur, vanillin oak, Asian spices, cola and floral oil. Broad, velvety and sweet, with weighty blackberry and boysenberry flavors, subtle tannins and a wallop of candied vanilla on the back. Almost too big for the mouth, finishing with serious cling and persistence. Impressive for sure, but how would one use this at the table? Invite 23 of your best friends over to split a bottle. 91 points”
