The 2009 Momo Pinot gris is a blend of fruit from vineyards located in the Omaka and Wairau Valley of Marlborough. The fruit for this Pinot Gris was hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast. Fifth percent of the blend was aged in seasoned French oak barriques for six months, for added texture and complexity.
Pale green colour with golden hue. Aromas of Nashi pear, quince and apple crumble. The palate is soft and textural, rich with flavours of fig and stone-fruit and a creaminess balanced by a fine acidity. This wine has the potential to improve over the next five years, while providing fresh lively drinking immediately.
Delicious with pork, Asian inspired dishes, or try it with a salad of blue cheese, pear and walnut.

What the critics think
2008 -“Restrained and complex wine that, in typical MOMO style, focuses as strongly on texture as flavour. The wine is bone-dry and creamy with plenty of bready lees characters and subtle oak adding complexity to the pear and other tree fruit flavours. An exciting and individual Pinot Gris.” Rating; 93 points
Bob Campbell – Gourmet Traveller WINE (AUS) – April 2009

2008 -“The bouquet is slightly earthy; the palate is vibrant, with a slightly oily texture and citrusy, appley, spicy flavours, showing a touch of complexity.”
