The fruit for this wine was sourced from our three leased Red Hill Vineyards and a number of other high quality grower vineyards from across the Peninsula.
The 2009 growing season was cooler than recent vintages (despite extreme heat over the Black Saturday period) with yields being down by about 1/3rd. However quality was excellent across all our vineyards.
This wine is a fruit driven style that has genuine ripe pinot characteristics with considerable fineness and style. The bouquet and palate has dark cherry fruit flavours and aromas, a little spice and subtle oak characters. This has been made as an excellent current drinking pinot that will reward short-term cellaring of 3 to 5 years.

What the critics think
2009 – “Bright, clear crimson-purple; Lindsay McCall does it again, the wine is fresh, rich plum and cherry fruit offset by foresty, but balanced, tannins and oak.” Rating: 94 Points
James Halliday – The Australian Wine Companion - 2011
2008 – “This may be Paringa’s “second” Pinot Noir from the Mornington Peninsula, but it’s a worthy understudy to the main estate wine. It’s a less robust version, pale ruby in colour, with sappy red berry and cherry aromas, and an aromatic floral touch. The palate is silky and soft with a lingering aftertaste. Easy drinking. Rating 4.5 Stars
Ralph Kyte-Powell – ‘Epicure’ The Age – 8 September 2009
2008 – “Paringa Estate keeps churning out the most appealing Pinots. This is another delight: fleshy, sweet-fruited, impeccably balanced, and pure and ripe as you swallow it. Flavours of rosewater, sweet cherries, sap and cedar. It’s a masterful wine in the most quaffable manner. Ready to drink now.” Rating; 91 points
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh – The Big Red Wine Book – 2009/2010
2008 – “I can’t recall a better vintage of this wine. The nose has restrained sweet red and black cherry aromas, oak is relatively low-key, and the finish carries some firmness. Leaner and more angular than the ‘estate’ pinots but a lovely drink in fair price.” Rating 4 Star
