rabbit ranch pinot gris - 2009

Rabbits that once were the endemic plague of Central Otago have now been replaced with the new epidemic of the area - grapevines. Although my neighbors Mr. and Mrs. C Cocky believe that 2009 was a better year for milk than wine, frankly they don’t know their udders from a crusher! 2009 has been a fantastic grape harvest with loads of very ripe, tasty fruit. Perfect!
“As soon as you lift the glass this wine will literally leap into your senses like the startled rabbit it is. It is bounding with fresh fruit aromas and flavours that remind me of my famous vegetable garden – apples, pears and honeysuckle. This wine is a veritable smorgasbord of tastes. Apparently it is the Energizer Bunny’s favourite tipple.”

Our price is $21.99 per bottle with 13 to the dozen deal, or $25.90 single bottle

momo 'marlborough' sauvignon blanc - 2009

The 2009 MOMO Sauvignon Blanc is pale in colour with light green hue. Aromas of tropical fruit and citrus with a hint of minerality. The palate is textural and rich with ripe tropical fruit and grapefruit.
The wine is balanced with good richness in the middle palate and crisp acidity to give a long and clean finish.

“There are about a zillion different Marlborough sauvignon blancs out there. This one is better than most. The wine shows succulent botanical aromas of leafy herbs, passionfruit and tropical fruits. The essency palate combines snappy flavours, lush texture, measured mid-palate sweetness, and zippy acidity in juicy harmony.”
Ralph Kyte-Powell - The Age December 2008

Our price is $16.05 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal , or $18.90 single bottle

castle rock estate riesling - 2010

Pale straw colour with green hues.
Bouquetis tight, citrus dominated, nose showing lime and lemons characters. Some light floral notes, orange blossom and a minerally edge adds interest.
The palate is Riesling in its purest form, tight and elegant and dominated by citrus fruit characters. The natural acidity is powerful yet wonderfully balanced and gives the wine a mineral structure and great length. The wine is tight and restrained with an attractive delicacy now, yet will blossom with age for ten years.
Ideal aperitif wine, will also accompany fish and delicate crustacean and mild Asian dishes.
Excellent ageing potential. It will continue to improve through its first year and then plateau, should drink well for 10 or more years.

Our price is $18.25 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $21.50 single bottle

geoff merrill chardonnay - 2007

The 2007 Chardonnay was fermented and matured in small French casks for approximately 9 weeks. The resultant wine displays citrus and melon fruit characters complimented by subtle vanillin oak, with a crisp clean finish. While enjoyable now, short to medium term cellaring will enhance the complex flavour of this wine.

Our price is $14.40 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $16.95 single bottle

hinton 'hill country' pinot noir2008

An approachable fresh Pinot noir with ripe black cherry aromas and a balance of spice, smoky oak and soft tannins. It has a powerful rich mouthfeel and tasty lingering finish. With silky tannins, good length and a generous aftertaste. It is a medium bodied wine with hints of delicious savoury oak and just a touch of spice. A very approachable Pinot Noir with sweet spicy aromas.
This wine has been specifically made to be more approachable, while still young and fresh. During the fermentation process great care was taken with temperature control to ensure only lighter smoother tannins were extracted from the skins.
Likewise the wine was only stored in French oak barrels for 8 months rather than the usual 12 to ensure the oak flavours in the wine were not overpowering. These measures have combined to create a very smooth elegant Pinot Noir.

Our price is $21.15 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $24.90 single bottle

kilikanoon 'killerman's run' shiraz 2008

Crimson in colour. Ripe, bold and lifted Shiraz flavours dominate the nose, rich plum
fruits and mocha supported by the French and American oak. The palate tends to be fruit driven but balanced and lengthened by the older oak flavours.
A sweet mid palate, soft tannins and warmth of character have created a wine with both power and finesse.

Our price is $16.94 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $18.95 single bottle

cockfighter's ghost merlot 2008

This sixth release of Cockfighter's Ghost Merlot is sourced from a single vineyard located in the McLaren Vale region, in South Australia.
The McLaren Vale region in South Australia, renowned for its cool maritime climate, has established an excellent reputation for producing high quality merlot. The highly regarded 2008 vintage has produced a wine with concentration and good fruit intensity so typical of the region.
After fermentation, the wine was matured in small French oak barrels before being bottled in January 2009.
The wine has mulberry, currant and varietal spice aromas. The palate is rich with spicy plum flavours leading to a sweet dark chocolate tannin finish.

Our price is $14.86 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $17.50 single bottle

terlato & chapoutier shiraz viognier 2008

A spicy Shiraz from the vineyards of Central Victoria brightens with a boost of Viognier for aroma and balance, as often practiced in France’s most highly regarded appellation of the Northern Rhone Valley, Côte Rôtie. The grapes grown in this Australian vineyard were planted on 19th century French rootstocks, another nod to the French tradition & influence in this new world wine. This wine is a collaborative effort between two renowned wine families; Chapoutier from the Rhône Valley in France, and Terlato family of Napa Valley in California.
Intense red colour. Red berries aromas, followed by hints of exotic fruit. Round structure with fine tannins displaying fruity characteristics.

Our price is $18.60 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $21.90 single bottle

hewitson 'miss harry' gsm 2009

A blend of Grenache (50%), Shiraz (40%), Mourvèdre (5%) with the balance equal portions of Cinsault and Carignan. All of these varieties are historically grown in the southern Rhone Valley of France near the Mediterranean, and are normally blended together to make the local wine. These varieties have a natural affinity for the Barossa Valley.
The old deep-rooted Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre perfectly accompany the later-ripening and lower-alcohol Cinsault and Carignan that add a small yet important part to the blend.
The vineyards were picked at optimum maturity, fermented separately on their skins before finishing fermentation and malolactic fermentation in old French barriques then matured in these same barrels for about twelve months without racking. These are our traditional methods that intensify flavour and complexity.
Bright red with a purple hue, the aromas are of ripe strawberry, intense red forest berries and rhubarb with layers of creamy complexity offered by the extended barrel maturation on lees.
The palate is wonderfully full, showing ripe strawberries and red plums, and has a concentrated core of fruit essence with a racy acidity that gives the wine incredible vivacity.

Our price is $18.26 per bottle with 13 to dozen deal, or $21.50 single bottle
